I said hold the sonic not explode the spiders!
[He casts a glance around though and sees more than a couple of eyes glinting back at him. Thankfully he's already on the ladder and legging it as fast as he can trying to keep her legs clamped around his neck.]
I'm only telling you we are so you hold on tight.

[ Her face feels...weird and her arm is starting to feel like pins and needles where the spider clamped down. But they're so close, she doesn't want to say anything, not yet. ]
I know you're going as fast as you can but feel free to go faster.

[But they finally arrive just in the nick of time.]
Clara point the Sonic Screwdriver up above you!

Is it working? [ She's trying to keep a good hold on the sonic but her hands are starting to numb up. She knows it isn't good, but before she worries him, they need to make sure everyone's safe. ]

[And he watches as around them the pulse of blue light begins to shrink the spiders that are mere inches from snapping at them with their pincers. The eggs seem to shrink to, leaving behind yards upon yards of finely spun, tiny cobwebs.
With a triumphant cheer, he rushes down the ladder to the tiny landing, putting Clara firmly on the ground and pulling her into a hug.]
Now all that Paris has to worry about are tiny spiders.

Her eyes are wide open, she's breathing shallowly, but she can't say anything. It's like she's a rag doll, but her mind is still very active practically shouting at him that she can't move, that she can't talk, that she can feel everything but she can't move. It'd be a horrific way to die, being eaten alive. ]

[He can at least hear her, telling him exactly what's wrong as holds onto her. There's a flare of anger at her for not telling him sooner and at himself for not noticing. The spider's venom must have gotten into her somehow, maybe her eyes without any sign of broken skin that's the only possible explanation he can think of.]
You'll be okay. We can reverse the toxin, we'll catch one of the spiders - reverse engineer it. You trust me, right?
no subject
But as angry as she knows he is, she trusts him with her life, apologizing quietly. ]

They can argue about it later. Once he's confirmed with the sonic that the venom isn't lethal he hurries his way back down the stairs with her carried close to his chest in his arms. People are beginning to emerge on the streets, most none worse for wear. But it dawns on him that if Clara was bitten there were likely others that had been too.
As he runs back to the TARDIS with her, he whispers words of encouragement to her. He leaves her on the nearest cot, stroking her hair and pressing a kiss to her forehead.]
I'll be back soon.
[And he's off again, jar in hand. It doesn't take him long to find a spider or to figure out an antidote to the venom with the TARDIS' help and he's injected Clara with it.] You should start getting feeling back soon.

When he returns, she looks about as dead as a person could, eyes staring up at the ceiling of the TARDIS. She can feel the Doctor before he's returned though, his thoughts stronger. It only takes seconds for the antidote to flood her system and she gasps, inhaling sharply and filling her lungs before coughing, rolling onto her side a little. ]

The minute colour begins to return to her cheeks, he pulls her close, not letting go. He rubs her back, soothing her with words in Gallifreyan telling her it was going to be okay and that she was brave and they had done so, so well.]

I thought it might...hurt a while, but not that. [ Clara buries her nose against his neck and breathes him in, closing her eyes and whispering again that she's ]sorry.
no subject
[He murmurs it into her shoulder, pressing soft kisses into her.]
Never apologize. [Thoughts float into Clara's head - he would have turned around in a heartbeat, tore the universe and any spiders asunder for her.]
no subject
You can't destroy the universe. We've been through this. [ She nuzzles him, breathing him in. ] But I know you would never stop for me. I've never doubted it.
no subject
I suspect you weren't the only one that needs an antidote. [He gently untangles himself from her and holds out a hand.] Shall we?
no subject
We shall. And then I shall take a bath and get the spider entrails out of my hair. [ She grimaces a little but she's been covered in worse and it can wait. ]
no subject
I'll need you to collect a couple more spiders. In hindsight we should have tried to keep at least one of them big enough to mix more antidotes. [He gathers another jar from the shelf and hands Clara a little net that's also there.]
no subject
The things I do for love. By a couple do you mean 'fill up this entire jar?'
no subject
As many as you can. We'll distribute as much as we can after that.
no subject
And I'd like the Roman bath. Please. [ Clara flashes him a grin and then she's gone, off to help save the day. ]
